Description
Gabriella Torres-Ferrer's installation is about the interplay of colonialism, capitalism and digitalisation. The sculpture is part of the series Mine your own Business, in which consumer items are fitted with microcomputers and arranged as stilllifes. LED screens displey various data, such as real-time market values or cryptocurrency mining.
Gabrielle Torres-Ferrer (*1987) looks at opportunistic companies in the crypto sphere, that is the recent version of speculative enterprises that profit from crises. The artist examines crypto-oases, disruptive technologies and capitalist colonial entanglements. Torrers-Ferrer's recent work uses tropical fruit to create living sculptures.
